£10,000 for plant which adds £5 per linial yard, making

£10 plus £1.13.4 = £11. 13. 4. per linial foot.

I consider, for provisional estimate, the

figures in my report should stand.

In the last paragraph of my report, I suggest

that, given certain conditions of rock etc., the subway

itself might be used for conveying water from North to

South without the addition of pipes laid in the subway.

In this case, the tunnel would require lining, and on

the prices quoted in Armstrong's contract, it probably

would cost £45,000 for lining with 6" of concrete the

whole 6000 feet. Against that must be set the cost of

the two 18" pipes, which would not be required, and

which are quoted in the contract at £73,000.

One point I should mention that, in the case

of the subway, assuming it to be 6000 feet long, it would have storage capacity equal to approximately 24 million

gallons of water.

I have carefully considered the information furnished by the specification and quantities lent me, and have also again considered the figures in the report, and I suggest there does not appear sufficient difference to warrant any alteration.
